Dermatoglyphics is the science which deals with study of dermal ridge configuration on digits, palmsand soles. Etymologically this term harmonious blend two words Derma – skin; Glyphe carve. It givesthe impression that something has been carved out skin. The entire human body clothed theskin happens to be largest and most important organ body. Palmar dermatoglyphics of dyslexia.
Palmar dermatoglyphic prints were taken of 261 dyslexics (173 males and 88 females) and compared against those of 707 controls (372 males and 335 females). Dyslexics of both sexes were found to exhibit greater complexity in terms of ridge count and pattern location than controls, particularly on the left hand. Specifically, both male and female dyslexics exhibited higher left a-b counts, wider ...

Palm prints of 55 male and 33 female schizophrenic patients from Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh were examined for a possible association between palmar dermatoglyphic characteristics and the disease. There was a marked difference between patients and normal controls with regard to palmar C line termination, axial triadic, number of ridges at the a-b inter digital area and the frequency of var...
متن کاملQualitative palmar dermatoglyphic patterns in cases of idiopathic generalized epilepsy
The term dermatoglyphics is derived from the ancient Greek words ‘derma’ means skin and ‘glyph’ meaning carving. Dermatoglyphics is the scientific study of patterns of epidermal ridges present on fingers, palms, toes and soles. 1 Although Cummins and Midlo coined the term dermatoglyphics, it started as a scientific discipline with the publication of Purkinje’s thesis and Galton’s classic book “...
متن کاملThe effect of absence of thumb on palmar dermatoglyphics.
When a hand has no thumb ridge configurations in the proximal palm are distorted. There is no axial triradius, and the ridges run transversely across the palm. This unusual arrangement was reported in German cases of thalidomide poisoning by Pfeiffer and zu Berge (1964). Since that time the characteristic alignment has been found not only in English cases of thalidomide poisoning with radial dy...
